About Rubber Ducky Isopods:
Hailing from the caves of Thailand, the "Rubber Ducky" isopod is arguably one of the most recognizable and adorable isopods in the hobby. They are prized for their:
* Distinctive Appearance: Their most striking feature is their "beak-like" head and bright yellow coloration, resembling a miniature rubber ducky toy.
* Premium Bioactive Clean-Up Crew: While beautiful, they are also excellent detritivores, aiding in the decomposition of organic matter in your vivarium.
* Advanced Care: They thrive in specific conditions, making them a rewarding challenge for experienced keepers.
What You Get:
Each order includes 10 healthy Cubaris sp. "Rubber Ducky" isopods (typically a mix of juveniles and young adults), carefully packed to ensure their safe arrival.
Care Recommendations:
* Temperature: Stable temperatures between 70-78°F (21-26°C) are ideal. Avoid extremes.
* Humidity: High humidity (70-85%) is crucial. They need a consistently moist environment with good ventilation to prevent mold.
* Substrate: A deep, rich substrate composed of decaying hard wood, various types of leaf litter (oak, maple, etc.), sphagnum moss, and a good calcium source (like cuttlebone or limestone) is essential.
* Hides: Provide plenty of bark, flat stones, and leaf litter for them to hide and forage under.
* Feeding: Supplement their natural diet with a high-quality isopod protein source, organic vegetables (e.g., carrots, squash), and mushroom pieces. They especially enjoy decaying white-rot wood.
Shipping: We offer secure, temperature-controlled shipping methods to ensure live arrival. Please see our Shipping Policy for our specific Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG).
